Of Irish and German Roots

Linda's Genealogy Page

The main surnames I am searching in my quest of my family roots are: Allen, Bates, Deadman, Cooper, Mumberson and Schell.

Both my parents are from the same community in Sunnidale (now part of Clearview) Township in Simcoe County , Ontario. The Allen family had arrived in Sunnidale Township from Ireland by way of Mono Mills in Dufferin County (part of Simcoe County at the time of their arrival in the early 1830's).

The Schell family had arrived from what is now Germany in Europe by way of Herkimer County in the Mohawk Valley area of New York State (in the mid-1700's) and then the Markham Township area of York County in Ontario (in the early 1800's).

The Bates, Cooper, Deadman and Mumberson families arrived in Ontario from various parts of the British Isles (mainly England) at various times in the 1800s and eventually married into branches of my Allen or Schell families.

My Father-in-law, Ken, has searched his Legere (Acadian) heritage and my Mother-in-law, Mae, her Johnston (Scottish) heritage.
